Get Involved!

The MSHS Drama Club has so many fun and exciting opportunities for students both on stage and off. Students can explore their creative side and help our department bring our shows to life. In the drama club, students will learn so many valuable life skills while also creating lifelong memories and making new friends.

Below, there is information about student involvement roles on stage, backstage, and student testimonials on their time in the department. If you have any specific questions, please feel free to reach out on our contact page or speak to the Drama Producer, Christa Ledin.

“Well, drama is my literal life for like 6 months out of the year. It is my favorite extracurricular and I get to experience and learn so much. I have been able to work backstage and act on stage, and I can say that both are very fun. I love the family I created there and then I just want to keep doing drama to find that same family everywhere I go. So everyone should join to experience all of that.”

Get on Stage!

“Drama is such a fun activity to be a part of because you really become close with everyone you are working with. You are in this tight-knit group and you have such a strong support system. Our program is such a great place to have fun but also you can take away so many wonderful skills. MSHS drama is a wonderful environment that I loved to be a part of since I was in 5th grade.”

Are you a fan of telling stories? Do you enjoy public speaking? Do you love being the center of attention? Does the stage call to you? Then acting on stage is what you need to do!

Throughout the year we offer several opportunities for students to get involved with acting. The fall play in November gives students the opportunity to act out their emotions through interesting and unique plays. The Christmas play in December is a fun and exciting time where students put on shows directed by fellow students in a take-all fashion to put on festive shows for local kids - the perfect opportunity for those who just want to test the waters in acting! Then, the spring musical is the event of the year as students learn to sing, dance, and act while telling heartfelt stories.

No matter what your ability or comfort level is, there is always a place for you in the Drama Department! We hope to see you in the audition room soon!

Create behind the Scenes

Are you creative? Do you like working with your hands? Do you prefer to create art rather than act it out? Do you love working with other creative people? Then one of our many wonderful crews is the place for you!

One of the best parts of our drama department is how hands-on students are able to be when creating our shows. They can help with everything from building the sets, creating costumes, and even running lights and sound. This is the perfect place for those who are creative but prefer to stay out of the spotlight.

And, for our musically gifted friends, we recruit student musicians to play in the pit for the spring musical. Whether you play the drums, the oboe, or the trombone, there is a seat for you in the pit! If you are interested in being a pit member, reach out to the musical producer in January.

“My time in drama has been a very fulfilling experience for me because of the skills I’ve learned, the experiences I’ve had, and the sense of family that drama club always brings with it. Drama has made me more confident and sure of myself and has helped with my time management and organization skills a lot over the years. I’d recommend for anyone to join the club regardless of past experience (or lack thereof!) Drama really has something for everyone. Of course there are plenty of spots on the stage for all sorts of different actors- whether you want a big or small part, whether you love to sing or love to act, there’s a spot for you! And for those who aren’t interested in acting on the stage, joining a crew can also present great opportunities to gain experience and make new friends. I’ve participated in drama club both on and off the stage, and I wouldn’t trade my years in drama for anything!”

Drama club is the most accepting environment I've ever been a part of. The first day I walked in, I immediately made friends and had so much fun. It is one of the biggest contributors to who I am today, and I have so many great memories from it.

- Reese P., Junior, Stage/Props Chair

"The thing I love most about drama is how it’s a family! It’s impossible not to feel loved in drama. Doing a show, whether you’re in the cast or on a crew, is a great place to find a solid group of friends."
